About the Client

Samsung Mobile is the toast of millions of consumers and the media. However, media turnout is usually low at the launch of non-product-specific events in the northern part of Nigeria.

Brief

The brief was for Upticomm to make certain that leading national and regional media would attend the launch of the Samsung Customer Service Centre in Abuja, the first ultra-modern customer service center in the country.

Our Work
  • Upticomm recced the venue and developed a media launch strategy.
  • A list of the most influential reporters in the region was generated and invited to the launch.
  • Upticomm secured the buy-in of the leadership of the Consumer Protection Council (a government agency responsible for protecting consumers’ right) to perform the opening ceremony and ribbon-cutting rites.
  • A special interview was conducted with the Managing Director, Samsung Electronics West Africa.
  • The agency drafted the MD's speech, which was adopted in whole.
  • A press release and media kit were arranged for the invited media groups.
Outcome
  • The launch of the Samsung Service Centre was well attended and reported in the media. It made the Cover Story with a picture in the February edition of Computer.com, the first and most authoritative ICT industry magazine.
  • 100% coverage contained all the key messages.
  • Brand building initiatives delivered a positive tone in 100% of coverage.
  • Visual cues were published mostly in colour and prominently displayed.
